I'm known as one of the best foreign speakers of Japanese on the internet.
But when I first learned Japanese, I made critical mistakes that gave me a thick foreign accent and made speaking feel unnatural - even after reaching an advanced level.

That's when I found J. Marvin Brown, an American who taught himself Thai and reached a legendary level.
His approach?
Drop all forms of “study” because they interfere with natural language acquisition.
Brown had a radical hypothesis that if an adult learns exactly the same way a child does, the adult will get the same results.
He tested this by creating a school that taught Thai 100% through something called comprehensible input (which we'll cover in-depth in Immersion Blueprint).
No studying grammar or drilling vocab.
And it actually worked. Students surpassed even Brown's legendary level.
Brown's research confirmed what I had been assuming myself:
My pronunciation problems weren't because of my brain - it was because I “studied” the language and interfered with natural acquisition.
Brown validated the ideas that I had been exploring. His study worked better than most 'traditional' methods for learning a language…
But his method still has limitations…
Input alone isn't enough for an adult to reach native level.
